But all to no avail. SAT However, the BBC has very kindly given John a series and SAT asked him to invite pop stars to bring their music to his SAT Sheffield home. So it is that Chas and Dave, Heaven 17, SAT Toyah Willcox and Leee John find themselves in John's lounge SAT having tea with wife Mary, being flirted with by Mary's SAT friend Joan and hassled by John's agent Ken Worthington, as SAT they try and perform not only one their greatest hits but SAT more importantly, one of John's. SAT It's the last show in the series this week but John is SAT feeling a little stressed despite the fact all the jingles SAT are recorded. John's final guest is Leee John from SAT Imagination who's a very busy man involved with charity SAT work, singing, acting and making a documentary - and John is SAT worried that Leee is doing too much and should take things a SAT bit easy. SUN SUN 09:00 Just William - Live! b01ph83g (Listen) SUN Series 3, Aunt Arabelle in Charge SUN In 2012, as part of Winchester's Best of British Festival in SUN celebration of the Jubilee, Martin Jarvis performed the SUN second of two of Richmal Crompton's comic classics, live SUN on-stage. SUN In Aunt Arabelle in Charge, William and his faithful Outlaws SUN (Ginger, Douglas and Henry) encounter a strangely complacent SUN six year old who is staying in the village. This odious SUN child turns out to be the hugely famous Anthony Martin, SUN subject of his mother's best-selling books and poems. SUN The Outlaws need to redeem themselves in the admittedly SUN short-sighted eyes of Ginger's journalist aunt. She, SUN equally, is desperate to secure an exclusive interview with SUN the child star. It's soon clear that this wonderfully SUN constructed story is a brilliant parody of - who else - A.A. SUN Milne's Christopher Robin. SUN The packed Winchester audience understood this at once. In SUN Jarvis' inhabitation of both the smug infant and Ginger's SUN aunt, the comedy is unremitting. SUN Can William sort this out and, incidentally, give the SUN horrific child his just deserts? Blackmail is the answer, of SUN course. SUN SUN 10:00 The Reunion b00zd8fy (Listen) SUN Comic Relief SUN In this episode of The Reunion, Sue MacGregor gathers SUN together the founding members of Comic Relief. SUN The idea first emerged in 1984 when a devastating famine was SUN crippling Ethiopia. Inspired by the work of Live Aid, a SUN group of people led by writer Richard Curtis decided to tap SUN into the great British comedy scene and raise money for SUN Africa. All costs would be covered by sponsors. This would SUN enable the 'Golden Pound' principle - that every penny SUN raised should go to charity. SUN Comic Relief was launched live on Noel Edmonds' Late, Late SUN Breakfast Show on Christmas Day 1985 from a refugee camp in SUN Sudan. Helen Fielding was the Comic Relief documentary maker SUN leading the project in Africa at the time. The launch raised SUN £1 million. A few months later Comic Relief staged their SUN first live fundraising show at London's Shaftesbury Theatre SUN with performances by Rowan Atkinson, Ronnie Corbett and Kate SUN Bush. That year, they released their first number one hit SUN single with The Young Ones and Cliff Richard. SUN Comic Relief needed a symbol - something which could be sold SUN in exchange for a donation and which would give the public a SUN way of joining in. On the back of the Red Nose idea came the SUN first ever Red Nose Day TV extravaganza in 1988 - an event SUN which would bring together comedy and charity like never SUN before on live national TV. Richard Curtis recalls 'chaos, SUN panic and tears' behind the scenes. The show raised a SUN staggering £15 million and would go on to become an SUN institution. SUN Sue is joined around the table by; Richard Curtis co-founder SUN of Comic Relief; Lenny Henry and Griff Rhys Jones who SUN presented the early TV shows; Helen Fielding who was the SUN first Africa documentary producer and Paddy Coulter, who was SUN Head of Media at Oxfam and an early Comic Relief board SUN member. WED In 1879 and 1880, three years before he was to write WED 'Treasure Island', Robert Louis Stevenson was a largely WED unpublished and unsuccessful writer. At the time of WED their meeting Fanny was escaping from America with her WED children - away from a husband who only brought her misery WED through his serial infidelities. WED One of Stevenson's earliest publications was an essay 'On WED Falling in Love' for The Cornhill magazine. WED In 1878 Fanny decided that she had to return to America and WED to her husband. Stevenson embarked on a walk through the WED Cevennes with a donkey in 1879 which was later to be WED published as 'Travels with a Donkey in the Cevennes' and in WED August of the same year he resolved to follow Fanny to WED America. THU An 18th century story about a man and the architect he THU employs, who are forced to shelter for the night from a snow THU storm in the house they have resolved to pull down and THU replace. In spite of their rationalism, and beyond their THU comprehension, the past asserts itself over their will. THU Producer Christine Hall. THU THU 11:15 Afternoon Drama b016fs6f (Listen) THU Mike Harris - Stevenson in Love, The Amateur Emigrant THU By Mike Harris. THU Based on Robert Louis Stevenson's classic travelogues, THU journals and personal letters. THU In pursuit of the woman he loves Stevenson first catches a THU steamer to New York and then undertakes a momentous train THU journey across America - ending in California. But will she THU leave her husband for him. THU In 1879 and 1880, three years before he was to write THU 'Treasure Island', Robert Louis Stevenson was a largely THU unpublished and unsuccessful writer. THU Despite his father's wishes, however, he saw his life in THU literature. In 1876, he had met Fanny Osbourne the woman who THU was to become his lover and later his wife. At the time of THU their meeting Fanny was escaping from America with her THU children - away from a husband who only brought her misery THU through his serial infidelities. THU One of Stevenson's earliest publications was an essay 'On THU Falling in Love' for The Cornhill magazine. THU In 1878 Fanny decided that she had to return to America and THU to her husband. Stevenson embarked on a walk through the THU Cevennes with a donkey in 1879 which was later to be THU published as 'Travels with a Donkey in the Cevennes' and in THU August of the same year he resolved to follow Fanny to THU America. THU His journey was also published - most particularly in 'The THU Amateur Emigrant'. THU Mike Harris' two plays portray these two enormously THU significant journeys and attempt to capture Stevenson's THU feelings for Fanny and how they affected him on his travels. The house needs some work doing so they've got the THU builders in. They make an enormous mess and keep sneaking THU off early. Sam can't stand mess; it's one of his pet hates. THU Now that Sam has been promoted to Clerk of the Acts for the THU Navy Board, he's inundated with 'gifts' from people hoping THU to soften him up for a favour - a jar of olives from one and THU some turtle doves from another. He's not surprised to find THU himself being offered bribes - that's what happens when you THU get into a position of power. There's a fashionable new THU drink - and Pepys goes to try it - but he isn't at all THU impressed and doesn't think that 'tea' will catch on. A man THU who supported the execution of Charles I is hanged, drawn THU and quartered. Sam goes to watch but finds it a very THU disturbing sight. THU CAST THU Samuel Pepys .....
